Yesterday was a very fulling day for me....the day started at 5.30am. Made our way into the city. Signed up as a volunteer at the Weet-bix Try-athlon for kids.. Gabriel said he had fun doing it last year so got Bryan and I to help out this year. The waking up part wasnt very fun though haha..

We were provided with Weet-bix for breakfast, a free t-shirt and a cap haha.. everyone was so eager to volunteer.. loved the spirit that everyone had.. and this was 6.30am in the morning!

Waiting to get started... was posted to the helmet checking group haha.. my task for the first half of the morning was to make sure that the kids had their cycling helmet strapped on properly.. (: and boy were there loads of kids! children started streaming in at about 7.30 and we started checking their helmets for a good hour or so...2,500 children in total..

Me hard at work hahah... (:

Quick breather before the event started.. the Try-athlon was a non-competitive event. It was just to give kids between the age of 7 and 15 the feel for a triathlon.. so the next part was to help them get their bikes off the rails and back on again after their swim and before their run. Each section was made shorter obviously as they were only kids. Even thought it was a non-competitive event, some children took it really seriously... But it was such a sight haha the kids were so cute with their little bikes. Helmets came in all shapes and colours, with princesses on them and all.. haha pink bikes, blue dinosaur bikes.. the whole lot haha...

Found a bike with a scottish home-made flag on it haha..

This was only one side of the bike area!

It was all hands on deck when the children started emerging from their swim.. non-stop after that.. 15 year olds were first to come out then the 14 year olds and so on all the way to the 7 year olds.. gosh, my arms were aching after that.. some of their bikes were really heavy! but all in all it was fun to see the children enjoy themselves and have a feel of what a triathlon is like (:

Went for a quick lunch @ Chinatown and it was home for a nap. Had to get some rest before my very first half marathon in the evening!! (: Im glad to say that I managed to complete it hee.. wheeee *a pat on the shoulder for myself*

Abbe! my first 10km was the best 10km Ive ever done haha did it in like 56mins (: so quite chuffed.. completed the whole 21km in about 2 hours plus, not a fantastic time but at least I can say Ive done a half marathon now.. hee... *smirks* just couldn believe I ran 21km last night... but definitely am feeling the aftermath today haha.. thought u would be very proud of me for completing it Abbe.. hee.. army half marathon in the summer?? (:
