I know its late at night and I should be mugging, typing, researching whatever.... but this is a long over-due post that I promised I would write and I've finally decided too haha... (:

Oh and I know its been a while since I've last blogged hehe.. exams la what to do.. I do study at time u know...
My first year at uni coming to an end pretty soon... this year has been a roller-coaster ride... many downs compared to the ups... my flatmates can verify that... tears, tempers, sulks the whole shabang... But I can honestly say.. I couldn have gone through this year without u, Chubs.. okok.. Jon.. Fine! Jonathan Leong... haha...

Moving from Dundee to Glasgow was made that much easier having u ard as well.. well of course Auntie Valerie and Uncle Robert were there for me all the time.. but u were always just a phone call away..

Think most of u have seen this picture on my friendster account... but it does sums up what we've been going through for the last 9 months...

Who ever said long-distance relationships were easy.. *please i really wanna punch u* friends at home use to say, "Oh when the guy goes to army, thats when it gets tough and if we are still together after army then we are meant to be.." thats total bull. I'm sorry but it is..

Many a times, u just wish u would stick ur hand through ur laptop, hoping for a hug or a cuddle but all u get is a wave or a cheeky smile... speaking to someone close through a "box", knowing u wont get to see the person for another few months IS and will ALWAYS be the hardest thing to have to deal with. I dont know how my parents managed this for 10 yrs.. I really do take my hat of to them.. The number of times we've told each other.."not long now baby, 2 more months... or I'll see u in 5 weeks time..." instead of normal couples saying, "I'll see u tmr at 5 can?"

Midnight talks, afternoons talks, morning talks and lots of trust and giving in to each other got us this far, family support has been the biggest help too... I'm feeling more left out!!! haha.. feeling redundant now.. *humph*

It'll be another 4 weeks till I see u again.. Guess after being apart for almost 6 months.. 4 weeks should be a doddle doesnt it.. Well, I couldn have gone through this year without u baby so thank you for always being there when I got lonely or when I needed someone to talk to or bitch too haha... ohh and for being my Alarm clock haha... and Mummy.. he has taken over ur job for naggin.. gosh he nags more than u do la.. study study study!

Here's to u baby...

haha I just had to use this picture hehe....

I know U love me too hehe.. *muackz*

Proud Daughter presenting her DADDY .....
Newpaper, 18th April 2007, Wednesday

LOVE brought him to Singapore, but it was his passion for teaching that kept him here.

And he was rewarded for it at a promotions ceremony for senior education officers yesterday.
From his first meeting with his would-be wife when he was 22 years old, there was no looking back for Mr Michael Andrew Peacock, now 57.

A chance invite to a colleague's home in 1972 allowed him to meet 18-year-old Swee Choo Khoo, his colleague's cousin. That meeting went on to shape the rest of his life.

At that time, the Scot was in Kedah, Malaysia, working as a volunteer mathematics teacher.
What followed was a 10-year long-distance courtship that saw him moving from Scotland to Singapore permanently in 1978, to be closer to his then-girlfriend.

He decided to teach in Singapore because maths had to be taught in Bahasa Malay in Malaysia.
Now, the Head of Department in Mathematics at Bukit Panjang Government High is a Singapore permanent resident, and he has been happily married to Madam Swee, now a Singapore citizen, for the past 25 years.

She is a project director for Presbyterian Community Services, a charitable organisation.
The couple have two children - son Alistair, 20, who is doing his National Service, and daughter Leslie, 22, an undergraduate studying in Scotland.

DRIVEN BY STUDENTS

Mr Peacock has a rock-solid passion for teaching. He relishes doing his bit to build his students' dreams.

He said: 'It's amazing how many lives you touch, even though you may not realise it initially.
'It's only after students tell me they took up studies in math or that they decide to teach because of me, that I realised this.'

For his job dedication, Mr Peacock went up a rank as senior teacher, getting the senior education officer 1A1 grade at a promotion ceremony held in Suntec City's convention halls for some 1,000 senior education officers.

Mr Peacock said that compared to the '70s and '80s, today's students are more diverse and complex, and a teacher's job is 'more demanding'.

'We have to cater to not just learning needs, but also to character development, emotional and social needs,' he said.

'But, if I had to do it all over again, I would.'

Principal Shirleen Ong said his promotion was 'well-deserved'.

She remembered how, a few years back, MrPeacock went out of his way to drive a needy student to school for a period.

'He never fails to reach out to students and is very concerned for their welfare,' she said.
Students like Nur Nadia Amanina Daud, 16, a Sec4 Normal Technical student, said MrPeacock's interactive style sets him apart from others.

She said: 'He's approachable and students pay attention when he's teaching.'

And of course, the woman behind his career couldn't be happier.

Madam Swee said: 'I'm very proud of him, he deserves it after working so hard.'

*Oh btw haha.. I know my mom will be fuming and to set the record straight.. her name is Khoo Swee Choo haha not Swee Choo Khoo...

Just a thought.... Know how certain things are classed a 'she' or very seldom a 'he'.. like... a country is always a 'she', or a plane... every wonder what sex ur laptop or computer is ????

A simple survey was conducted.

The boy's group decided that ''computer'' should definitely be of the feminine gender, because:

1. No one but their creator understands their internal logic;
2. The native language they use to communicate with other computers is impossible to understand for everyone else;
3. Even the smallest mistakes are stored in long term memory for possible later retrieval;
4. As soon as you make a commitment to one, you find yourself spending half your paycheck on accessories for it.

The girl's group, however, concluded that computers should be Masculine, because:

1. In order to do anything with them, you have to turn them on;
2. They have a lot of data but still can't think for themselves;
3. They are supposed to help you solve problems, but half the time they ARE the problem;
4. As soon as you commit to one, you realize that if you had waited a little longer, you could have gotten a better model.

So is your pc... a he or a she???

Egg Tarts... all about egg tarts... They might not taste as good as the ones u get from some famous bakery in Singapore... but at least we can say we made them ourselves... Right from the first cup of flour to the last egg we cracked and by jings did we crack a lot of eggs. haha... Egg tart making day was set for friday the 23rd of March so Angeline, Jeremy and I set off to get the ingredients for the tarts in the afternoon... Took us ages to find everything we need.. had to buy flour, plenty of eggs, etc.. soon we realised we did have anything to bake the egg tarts in so went to Debehams and bought a muffin tray haha... got everything except VANILLA EXTRACT.. cant believe none of the shops we went to sold vanilla extract.. Angeline had to go back with Jeremy to get dinner started, she invited more ppl over for dinner that night... so I marched along Argyl Street, Buchanan Street and god knows what other streets looking for vanilla extract but to no avil... On my way back bumped into Mubina and she is a god sent.. she had some!! wheeee~~~ so we back to Angeline's place... which by now was nearly dark.. so egg tarts aside first we had to get dinner started.... ooo we made mango salad.. yums.. Thai Mango Salad.. it was sooo good.. hehe....

Angeline does not believe in eating vegetables so I had to bring some over from my place and fry them myself (: see that plate of greens.. ya thats my kailan haha....

Right... our moment... The making of Egg tarts.... btw we only started making them like 11 o'clock at night believe it or not haha.. the others started playing majong while Angeline, Jeremy, Sean and I slaved away in the kitchen. Egg tarts are made up of 2 components (duh!) the tart and the filling.. haha so we decided to split into 2 'teams' .. the dough team and the filling team (time for another duh!).. Jeremy and I were in charge of making the tart part and U get the idea... ahha...

Teams busy in action haha....

My fellow 'team mate' Jeremy, moulding the dough into the tray.. this was the hardest part among everything else... had to make sure that it was not too thick or too thin.. took a lot of effort...

Now its time to fill them up with the eggy mixture...

And into the oven they go.....

And *drum roll please* haha.... Our very own egg tarts.. I know they dont look much.. hehe... they were our first batch.. they got better as we made more.. promise.... We made like 4 batches!! (:

See told u they looked better as we made more hehe... Well after spending the whole night making egg tarts and playing majong...

We headed out for breakfast!!... my first macdonald's breakfast in the UK haha... and still I order the same as what I would when I am in Singapore.. Sausage McMufin... u can never go wrong with sausage McMuffin....

Only thing missing was my chilli sauce.. sobz sobz.. haha.. oh well...

So, that's it... Egg tarts.. Not too hard to make (:
